Nancy Barron is a partner in the San Francisco office of Kemnitzer, Barron & Krieg. She received a B.A. from Stanford University in 1973, and a J.D. from the University of California, Hastings College of Law, in 1981. She is a Fulbright Scholar (Germany 1974-1975). She was a judicial extern to the California Supreme Court in 1981. Nancy was admitted to the California Bar in 1981, and since then has been practicing civil litigation with trial and appellate experience. She has contributed to several landmark appellate decisions related to the California lemon law, including Ibrahim v. Ford Motor Company and Kwan v. Mercedes Benz of North America, as well as Gutierrez v Autowest, Inc., et al, related to auto fraud.

Nancy was elected to the Board of Directors of the National Association of Consumer Advocates (NACA) in 1998 and served as Co-Chair of the Board in 2004. She was Editor in Chief of its member publication, The Consumer Advocate (2000-2003). Based in Washington D.C., NACA is composed of 1000 attorneys committed to promoting equal justice for consumers in the fight against unfair and abusive business practices. She currently serves on the Board of Directors of the National Consumer Law Center, in Boston.

Nancy Barron is the author of many articles on consumer issues in a variety of publications, including TRIAL Magazine, as well as the widely used book on lemon law, “Return to Sender: Getting a Refund or Replacement for Your Lemon Car,” published by the National Consumer Law Center (Boston, 2000). She has focused on consumer issues since 1985, and has been involved in more than 1,000 cases brought under the Song-Beverly Consumer Warranty Act. Nancy has also handled class actions and individual cases concerning credit problems, defective vehicles, dealer fraud, as well as other unfair and deceptive business practices. She has been the California State Bar approved provider for MCLE seminars on consumer law, and has spoken at law schools, as well as state and national conferences. Nancy Barron has served on the Law360 Privacy and Consumer Protection Editorial Advisory Board.
